The least expensive way to cruise is usually in an inside cabin. The hierarchy of staterooms goes from Inside, to Outside, to Balcony, to Suite, with the prices increasing with each step up on the scale. There can also be multiple variations available within each stateroom class.
A balcony cabin is a nice upgrade to a tropical cruise because it allows you to open up a sliding glass door and enjoy the fresh ocean air and provides a private space to sit outside. If you tend to be a little claustrophobic, having a cabin with a balcony can make cruising more enjoyable.
