The Orlando Sentinel reports that the Disney Wonder, which sails from Galveston in November and December, is headed to dry dock in September, where it will receive renovations. What those renovations will be are something of a mystery at this time.
The Disney Cruise Line announced the upcoming renovation at an April press event at Walt Disney World, but all they would say about the renovations was that they’ll “be making some very exciting enhancements to the Disney Wonder later this year.”
The Wonder is currently sailing in Alaska. There are no cruises scheduled for September and October. Then, the ship is schedule to shift to Galveston for two months of cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. So … it certainly looks like when the Disney Wonder arrives in Galveston, it will be fresh out of dry dock and newly renovated.
Galveston’s fleet of cruise ships is looking pretty good these days, with many ships being new or having received recent updates. Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Breeze, began sailing from Galveston in May. Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas emerged from dry dock in February of this year newly updated. And now it looks like Galveston will get a newly renovated Disney Wonder in November. That’s provides a lot of great updated sailing options for cruisers departing from Galveston.
