Disney Wonder Headed for Dry Dock, Renovations

disney-wonder-bow-300The Orlando Sentinel reports that the Disney Wonder, which sails from Galveston in November and December, is headed to dry dock in September, where it will receive renovations. What those renovations will be are something of a mystery at this time.

The Disney Cruise Line announced the upcoming renovation at an April press event at Walt Disney World, but all they would say about the renovations was that they’ll “be making some very exciting enhancements to the Disney Wonder later this year.” Continue reading

Carnival is Now the Official Cruise Line of the Houston Texans

Carnival Cruise Line recently announced that they have partnered with the NFL Houston Texans football team and will now be billed as the team’s official cruise line.

Team members will help celebrate the arrival of the Carnival Breeze to the Port of Galveston on May 8th.  The 8th is Mother’s Day and a “Mom’s Dash to the Splash” event has been planned that pairs moms (selected via an online contest) with the players for a race down the ship’s Twister and Drainpipe water slides. The winning team will receive $10,000 for charity and the second place team receives $5,000 for charity.  Continue reading

Carnival Triumph Moves from Galveston to New Orleans

carnival-cozumel-300The Carnival Triumph has relocated from the Port of Galveston to a new home port in New Orleans. The Carnival Liberty will replace the Triumph in the Galveston cruise line-up.

This shift is part of several changes in Carnival Cruise Line’s presence in Galveston. The recently-renovated Carnival Magic will also soon leave Galveston and be replaced by the Carnival Breeze.  The Magic is moving to Port Canaveral, Florida. Continue reading
